The Edmonton Community Foundation supports the people of Edmonton and invests in the community by encouraging philanthropy and funding charitable activities. We are grateful to have received their support for more than a quarter of a century through their grants and donor-advised funds.

The Edmonton Community Foundation gave a grant to Catholic Social Services in 2019 to install fire suppressants in all of our group homes for adults with disabilities. Fire suppressants will add an extra layer of fire prevention on top of our current safety measures. They can slow the spread of or even extinguish fires by detecting extreme heat and discharging a non-toxic chemical to smother the flames.

In 2018 the Edmonton Community Foundation gave a grant to our Immigration and Settlement Service as part of a larger coalition of organizations supporting newcomers. The grant was for a new initiative to provide better healthcare for refugees in Edmonton as part of the Alberta Refugee Health Coalition.  Catholic Social Services also received one of the foundation’s 2018 Vital Signs grants to develop the Outdoor Education Program for Newcomer Youth. This program promotes the integration of newcomer youth and builds social connections through outdoor activities in a positive group environment.

We are also grateful for grants from the following funds at Edmonton Community Foundation:

  • Ann & John Dea Family Fund
  • Flipkowski Fund
  • Frank & Ethel (Weisbeck) Rusconi Fund
  • Helen & Laurel Bell Fund
  • JKMS Mullane Family Fund
