The M·A·C AIDS Fund's mission is "to serve people of All Ages, All Races, All Sexes affected by HIV and AIDS". Since its launch in 1994, this fund has supported organizations around the world that provide vital services and strengthen the safety net for people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The M·A·C AIDS Fund gave a grant for 2017-18 to our Kairos House ministry to purchase food for preparing the nutritional meals provided to the individuals living at the house.
Catholic Social Services opened Kairos House in 1987 in order to support adults living with HIV/AIDS in Edmonton. The house offers accommodations with professional 24-hour care and support in a home-like environment. Compassionate care is provided to the residents as they experience dramatic changes in their physical health, self-esteem, daily habits, and general lifestyle in response to the onset of infections. Kairos House's main goals are to ensure the improved quality of life and independence of the men and women who reside there.
Nutritious meals are extremely important for someone living with HIV, and the cost of healthy foods continues to go up each year. The grant funds from the M·A·C AIDS Fund will help support the provision of healthy meals at Kairos House.
