Be a Beacon of Hope for Refugees - Information/Activity Pack

This pack is designed to help teachers in Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Edmonton to plan lessons, activities and reflections with their students throughout Lent. The pack contains 6 learning cards, one for each week of Lent. Teachers may choose to use the pack in order or at their own pace.

Language Assessment, Referral, and Counselling Centre (LARCC) - 2022/2023 Public Report

Founded in 1985, LARCC is the only Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) assessment centre for Edmonton and surrounding communities, dedicated to providing quality language assessments, educational counselling, referrals, and support services geared towards enhancing newcomers’ settlement and integration outcomes.

Catholic Social Services Anti-Racism Statement

Catholic Social Services has a longstanding history of working toward the betterment of people, especially the most vulnerable amongst us. 

On March 21, 2022, in honour of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the agency released its Anti-Racism Statement.

The Housing Stories of Newcomers in Edmonton

This 2020 report captures the lived experiences of a convenience sample of several hundred newcomers accessing services at one of four immigrant and refugee serving agencies in Edmonton, including Catholic Social Services. The results illustrate the complexities newcomer communities face as they settle in Canada.

Private Refugee Sponsorship Report

Catholic Social Services facilitates private refugee sponsorship on behalf of the Archdiocese of Edmonton. In the spring of 2019, Archbishop Richard Smith and Catholic Social Services CEO, Troy Davies, arranged for a roundtable gathering of parish representatives who participated in the  sponsorship of refugee families, particularly in the last five to ten years. The aim was to listen to the parishes’ experiences of sponsorship and to learn from their successes and challenges so that these insights could be shared with others.

Our 2019 - 2024 Strategic Plan highlights how our work over the next five years will be guided by these three goals: To lift people and families in lasting ways, to strengthen community relationships, and to sustain our efforts to serve well.
