Breaking new ground with Bethany House

Breaking new ground with Bethany House

A ground breaking ceremony for our Agency’s new transitional residence was held in Edmonton’s Borden Park community on Saturday, June 3rd.

Named Bethany House, the new home is the first of multiple projects for our Agency’s Project Building Hope initiative, a multi-million dollar, five-year plan to renovate or rebuild our existing group homes.

Several community members and supporters of Catholic Social Services joined us for this momentous occasion. Auxiliary Bishop Gregory J. Bittman from the Edmonton Archdiocese led the site blessing ceremony, and our CEO Stephen Carattini also shared a few words on the need of this new home.

The new duplex will be designed to temporarily house up to 10 residents, and will accommodate the complex needs of individuals receiving our care while their homes are being rebuilt or renovated.

“The transition home is a good solution because it was really, really hard for us to find somewhere for people to go before,” shared SkyAnne Krupa, Director of Community Outreach and Disability Service.

Bethany House was first announced at our Monsignor William Irwin Memorial Fund luncheon on Thursday, June 1. Over the last two years, this luncheon has fundraised for the Msgr. William Irwin Memorial Fund, which is supporting Project Building Hope.
