The Children’s Ability Fund’s mission is to enhance the independence of children and young adults with disabilities throughout Alberta, which they achieve by providing funding for specialized equipment.

In 2018, the Children’s Ability Fund gave a grant to our St. Rita’s group home for four individuals with developmental disabilities. The grant was used to install a sensory room in the home. Sensory rooms offer a relaxing environment with a variety of sights, sounds, textures, and aromas to engage different senses. Having a sensory room in their own home will ensure that these individuals will have the opportunity to alternatively reduce stress and feelings of anxiety or engage in stimulating sensory activities.
