Immigration and Settlement Service showcases newly renovated office

Staff and Agency Supporters were welcomed to tour our Agency’s newly renovated Immigration and Settlement Services office facility in Edmonton on Thursday, November 10, during our official open house event.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for our staff and supporters to learn more about the different ministries and services offered at Immigration and Settlement Services, including: Language Assessment, Referrals, and Counselling Centre; Cultural Links; Resettlement Assistance Program; and more.

“This is a special space where we have the privilege to serve more than 13,000 newcomers from more than 150 different countries annually,” said VP of Immigration and Settlement Service Alice Colak at the open house.

Now located on 118 Avenue, our Immigration and Settlement Service was previously located on 107 Street, where we provided supports and services to newcomers for over 30 years.

As the service ministry continues to see a growing demand for support, our Agency saw a need for a more modern and spacious environment to better serve our newcomer families and individuals.

“Our previous Central Office was a great and accessible location, but it did not meet our emerging needs,” Alice reflects on the former office location. “As our Immigration and Settlement Service began to significantly expand, we needed a bigger, suitable space for our staff and volunteers, in order to have a more dignified and respectful environment to serve newcomers.”
