Catholic Social Services
Since its inception in 1925, the Kinsmen Club of Edmonton has given millions of dollars to local and Canada-wide charities. By working with these charitable organizations, the Kinsmen Club of Edmonton works to better the community and enhance the well-being of Edmontonians. We are grateful to have received their support for our Welcome Home ministry.
Welcome Home is a volunteer-based ministry that provides support to individuals and families making the transition from homelessness to settling into a home by reducing the loneliness and social isolation faced by many newly housed individuals.
Group activities help the participants increase their social involvement through positive interactions with others and create opportunities to build their self-confidence in social settings. Welcome Home hosts multiple social activities throughout the year, which enables the participants to broaden their social networks.
With funding from the Kinsmen Club, Welcome Home is able to provide supplies and equipment to enhance their events, such as its annual Christmas party and summer barbecue. Club members also support Welcome Home by volunteering at many of these group activities.
