About Rym Khawam

Rym arrived in Edmonton with her husband and three children several years ago as Syrian refugees. The Khawam family received settlement support through the Catholic Social Services, which has inspired her to give back to the agency as a Board Member.  

Rym has a Master's degree in Computer Engineering and worked as a lab instructor at the University of Aleppo in Syria. Upon moving to Edmonton, Rym successfully completed her Education degree at Campus St-Jean / University of Alberta and joined the faculty at MacEwan University as a lab instructor. She also works as a francophone high school teacher.

Rym is passionate about volunteering at church and with community programs and believes in the power of youth for a strong society.
