The Alpha program, located in north-central Edmonton, supports men who are in active recovery from drug or alcohol addictions.

  • Alpha for men is a nine bed facility with three separate suites.

Alpha Program

The Goals of the Alpha program

  • The Alpha program offers support to persons with substance use issues in maintaining sobriety, socially acceptable norms of behaviour, reintegration into their families and society, as well as planning for their future.
  • Accepted applicants live in furnished apartments and are responsible for maintaining their own suites, including cooking and cleaning. Clients purchase their own groceries, cable and telephone.
  • Residents can stay in the program for up to one year as they stabilize: maintain sobriety, find employment, build new connections including substance-free relationships, and re-establish themselves in the community.
  • Residents are expected to find and maintain employment, attend school or attend day ministries/counselling to learn more about their addictions.
  • It is the purpose of the program to have men live in a community-based setting, while ensuring that support is available. Beyond the support of the Program Worker, the residents are supported to foster connections with one another and to hold one another accountable.
  • Individuals can self-refer or be referred by a treatment professional in the community.
