22 Days of Hope: Day 17

Our Community Engagement team in Wetaskiwin is strong as they continue to collaborate with community members, the Sacred Heart Parish, and businesses to further raise awareness and additional funding for our local ministries through the Sign of Hope.

We have been fortunate to collaborate with many partnering agencies at community events, such as the annual Family Day celebration that is attended by more than 650 people every year. In past years, kids have been able to check out emergency vehicles, get their faces painted, ice skate, and enjoy horse-drawn sled rides.

Now in its 24th year, our golf tournament in July continues to be a successful friend-raiser that increases more awareness about our ministries in Wetaskiwin – such as FASD and foster care support, counselling, and residential homes for the disabled.

To round out our primary annual events, Boston Pizza hosts our Boston Hope Party each October. The restaurant and its staff graciously donate proceeds and gratuity from meals during the day, while allowing volunteers from our Agency to help with serving customers.

These events allow us to share stories with the community about successes and the high level of care we provide.

Our ties with our Catholic partners in the parishes, schools, and health care sector through prayer, mutual support, and shared social justice remain strong and welcoming. All of these blessings show us the workings of the Holy Spirit, and have renewed our passion to serve those in need with the same compassion for one another that Christ showed.
