Established in Canada in 2001, the mission of the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation is to support women living with cancer through the Look Good Feel Better® program and to help end violence against women by providing grants to women's shelters and community outreach programs. Since then, it has awarded $1.4 million to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence and more than $1 million to help women going through cancer treatment throughout Canada.
In December 2018 Catholic Social Services received a grant through their Shelter Grant Program for our La Salle second stage shelter. La Salle provides safe, secure accommodations for up to one year for women and their children who have left abuse. During that time, they receive support and services such as counselling, workshops, and assistance with accessing education and employment opportunities. This grant will go towards helping the women at La Salle obtain the educational certificates they need to become independent by enhancing their skills and gaining employment.
