Sign of Hope, the charitable fundraising arm of Catholic Social Services (CSS), today announced the launch of its annual fall fundraising appeal. In 2019, Sign of Hope has a goal of raising $2.3 million for programs and services supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals, children, and families in Edmonton and central Alberta.
“Each donation to Sign of Hope creates a ripple effect, empowering those on the front line of care to deliver the services they have been entrusted to provide,” said Carole Anctil-Michalyshyn, Chairperson, Catholic Social Services. “This in turn, allows us to help, and lift up, those who rely on us for support.”
While much of Catholic Social Services’ funding comes from government, donor support allows the agency to provide additional and supplemental programs and services, helping individuals who may not otherwise be served. Sign of Hope fully funds more than 20 CSS programs and provides supplemental funding for many others, including shelters for mothers and their children fleeing domestic violence, and compassionate end-of-life care for the homeless and vulnerably-housed.
“I continue to be amazed and deeply affected by the immensity and quality of the work happening within our agency. To all of our donors who help make this work possible: a very sincere and heartfelt thank you,” said Dr. Troy Davies, CEO, Catholic Social Services. “Thank you for believing in the work that we do. Thank you for your trust in us, and thank you for helping us help others. Your gifts make a very real and significant difference in the lives of those we serve.”
In 2018, CSS served more than 20,000 Albertans in 12 communities across central Alberta. The Sign of Hope fall appeal is Catholic Social Services’ biggest annual fundraising effort.
Donations to Sign of Hope can be made online (signofhope.ab.ca), by phone (780-432-1137), or by mail or in person at the Monsignor Irwin Administrative Centre, located at 12431 Stony Plain Road NW, Edmonton, T5N 3N3.
