The Stollery Charitable Foundation helps charitable agencies and community partners in Kamloops and Edmonton reduce barriers for participation; achieve equality; and foster healthy individuals, families, and communities. The foundation is focused on organizations that prioritize health, social services, and education. Other areas of interest include human rights and strengthening the charitable sector.
We thank them for their 2018 grant to our Immigration and Settlement Service to launch a new initiative that supports newcomer families. For many immigrants and refugees, the process of resettlement and adapting to a new life in Canada is stressful and creates challenges for the family. This program will help these families resolve conflicts through a mediated dispute process. In addition, the families will be provided with strategies as well as referrals to other programs and community organizations that can help with resolving particular issues.
