The TELUS Community Boards focus on improving the lives of youth and their communities through the power of technology. They offer support in the areas of health, education, and the environment. In 2017, the TELUS Edmonton Community Board provided a grant to our creativity workshops for high-risk youth to purchase digital cameras and computers that will enable new creative methods of expression.

The high-risk youth in CSS ministries have often experienced trauma, as well as feelings of hopelessness and a loss of confidence and self-esteem, that they struggle to put into words. The creativity workshops address these issues by providing different methods through which youth can express their emotions and work through past trauma.

Adding new technology to the workshops will encourage more youth to participate and help them to learn computer skills and programs that can help them as adults. Thanks to the TELUS Edmonton Community Board, these youth will have opportunities to learn photo-editing techniques, to create and record music, and to develop and edit videos.
