UN Representatives tours Immigration and Settlement Service

Our Immigration and Settlement Service ministry had the honour of welcoming three representatives from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for a tour of our Agency on Wednesday, May 31.

During their visit, UNHCR Canada representative Jean-Nicolas Beuze, Resettlement Officer Michael Casasola, and Legal Officer Azadeh Tamjeedi were greeted by CEO Stephen Carattini at our Reception House facility, and were given the opportunity to meet and speak with several Government-Assisted Refugee families in our care over dinner at the facility.

Later that evening, the UN representatives made their way over to our new East Office building for a quick tour of the new space before meeting with local Sponsorship Agreement Holders and partners of our Agency to discuss resettlement sponsorship opportunities to further assist refugees in Canada.

The UN representatives continue their Edmonton visit at MacEwan University for the Canadian Council of Refugees’s Spring Consultation conference.
